The huge £250million indoor water park coming to the UK with 35 slides, indoor beach and swimming pools | The Sun

WORK has started on the £250million indoor water park being built in the UK.

Therme Manchester was first confirmed back in 2020, with the huge attraction already open in Bucharest.

The "well-being resort" is being built on the former EventCity conference centre which has since been demolished, and it is right next to the Trafford Centre.

Inside the 28-acre Therme – roughly the size of 19 football pitches – will be 25 swimming pools for all ages, as well as a wave pool.

The pools will have 35 water slides to choose from as well as water fitness classes.

Kid-free guests can head to the adult-only section which will have swim up bars, water lagoons and more than 30 steam rooms and saunas.

It will even have the UK's first all-season beach with palm trees and sun loungers.

It will all be covered by a huge glass dome so you can visit whatever the weather.

Other highlights include a 10,000sqm 'wellbeing garden' and restaurants and cafes.

James Whittaker, Peel L&P’s Executive Director of Development said: "Therme Manchester is a landmark development for the North and something the UK has never seen before.

"It’s incredibly exciting to see the land being prepared to welcome the resort to TraffordCity and we’re proud to help bring such an amazing attraction to the North West which we know will be enjoyed by so many people across the country whether it’s for a fun family day out, relaxation or educational trips."

Therme Manchester will open in 2025, although an official date and ticket prices are yet to be announced.

If you can't wait, you can visit Therme Bucharest in Romania which opened in 2016, although the Manchester attraction will be double the size.

There are other exciting water attractions opening in the UK too.

A new £50million water attraction called the Seahive could open in Kent with surfing pools, splash zones as well as accommodation pods and five-star hotel.

If it goes ahead, it will be the second of its kind in the UK, and similar to Bristol's The Wave.
