EasyJet is hiring 1,000 new pilots – and you don't need many qualifications to apply

EASYJET has reopened their pilot training scheme for the first time since the pandemic, looking for 1,000 new people.

Even better, you don't have to have many qualifications to sign up.

The airline has revealed some of their current staff, including a former gymnast and a former DJ, as part of their recruitment drive.

To apply to the Generation easyJet Pilot Training Programme, aspiring pilots need to be aged 18 or over.

Applicants only need to have five GCSEs which are Grade C or above, including Maths, Science and English Language, and speak English fluently.

You have to be over 5"2 and be able to work across the UK and EU.

However, no flying experience is needed, as this will be part of the intensive training scheme.

The programme lets you go from no experience to flying a commercial plane within two years.

EasyJet hopes to train up to 1,000 pilots over the next five years.

EasyJet boss Johan Lundgren said: "We are delighted to be reopening our pilot training programme again for the first time since the pandemic hit and will see us recruit over 1000 new pilots in the coming years.

"EasyJet has long championed greater diversity in the flight deck and this series of ads aims to highlight the extraordinary breadth of skills our pilots have and show that pilots can be found in all walks of life, in a bid to attract more diverse candidates."

He said they had also doubled the number of female pilots in recent years, and hope to continue to increase the diversity of their flying crew.
