A woman has shared how she created a trendy DIY coffee table for just £8 – using plastic bowls.
Content creator Veronica Cannady, 31, from New York, US, embarked on the project to avoid spending £22.74 ($30 USD) on a similar item in a shop.
The original bit of furniture she had her eye on was three-tiered with curved edges and a matte black finish.
To make the DIY version, Veronica purchased six plastic bowls, each costing 76p ($1), as well as one serving plate, also costing 76p, a tub of hot glue for 76p, and a can of black spray paint for £2.27 ($3).
The total cost was £8.33 ($11) and she bought everything from local discount shop, Dollar Tree.
To begin, she took the deconstructed bowls apart and glued the two halves together upside down to build the base. Next, she attached the serving plate to the top to act as the table portion.
Finally, she spray painted the entire table in cool matte black.
‘I love the finished result,’ Veronica says.
‘You can’t beat a table made from the Dollar Store.
‘A similar table would have cost me around $30 minimum.’
She shared the DIY project on TikTok and since being posted the video has been viewed 14,000 times and garnered nearly 2,000 likes.
Viewers were super impressed.
‘Beautiful,’ commented one TikTok user.
One follower also made a suggestion for future use adding: ‘This would be cool to make standing platters at a party.’
