As another exciting time in the dales got underway this week, many fans at home were surprised to see a familiar face among the cast, when former Coronation Street star Kyle Rowe swapped the cobbles for a brand new role in Emmerdale.
The talented actor will be best known to fans for his role as Ethan Corinn in Corrie, a young man who met up for drinks with David Platt’s rapist Josh Tucker in 2018.
Keen to make sure nobody suffered at Josh’s hands again, vicar Billy Mayhew warned Ethan that Josh had attacked someone previously after drugging them – a move which eventually saw Ethan beat Josh to within an inch of his life, after discovering he had GHB in his pocket on their date.
Although his part was only small, Kyle still left a big impression on fans at home, with many surprised to see him return to our screens in rival soap Emmerdale earlier this week.
This time around, Kyle is playing the role of Corey Sanderson, an old school friend of Nate Robinson who is hoping to go into business with Cain Dingle – but may not be quite as squeaky clean as he appears.
Thankfully, Kyle’s life away from his dodgy on-screen alter-ego is far less eventful. Here’s everything we know so far.
Born and raised in Manchester, Kyle discovered his love of performing at an early age and set his heart on becoming a professional actor to chase his dream.
Completing his compulsory education in his hometown, he later went on to study for a BA in Acting at Arts Educational Schools between 2014 and 2017.
With his professional training finished, Kyle soon began to pick up numerous roles on both stage and screen, with his versatility and clear stage presence soon setting him apart from his competitors.
Among his first notable roles, Kyle starred as Sergei in the Nickelodeon series House of Anubis, and later as Tagal in the equally popular Young Dracula series.
He also went on to star in both Coronation Street and Eastenders, before securing the coveted role of Shane Fisher in the Amazon produced series The Devil’s Hour.
The talented star is also set to appear in the upcoming TV series Those About to Die, a brand new series which explores a side of Rome never before told – the dirty business of entertaining the masses, giving the mob what they want most – blood and sport.
When he’s not busy on screen, Kyle has also proven himself to be a formidable talent on stage too, with multiple performances in everything from Let the Right One In through to The Giant Killers having showcased her impressive skills on the boards.
One little known fact about Kyle is how he stepped in to help keep the country functioning during the Coronavirus pandemic, by working at Waitrose when he couldn’t continue performing due to the theatre closures.
For 363 days, Kyle helped to keep the country fed by working in the supermarket, despite the risks posed by the virus. Although the work was tough, he never complained – but did confess that it was nice to get back to acting again once the worst of the pandemic was over!
Very little is known about Kyle’s life away from our screens, bar snippets of his life shared on social media, as he prefers to keep his public and personal life separate. It is currently unknown whether he is in a relationship.
