Shane McGownan’s new wife has revealed how the legendary Pogues singer stopped Johnny Depp performing one of the band’s hits at their wedding reception in Copenhagen.

After a 32-year relationship and an 11-year engagement Shane and Victoria Mary Clarke finally tied the knot in Copenhagen earlier this week, with the Hollywood star in attendance.

Speaking to the Ryan Tubridy show the morning after the festivities, journalist Victoria, 52, revealed how Shane, 60, wasn’t keen when Depp tried to perform A Rainy Night In Soho.

‘He said “stop, I don’t want to hear it”,’ she told The Ryan Tubridy Show. ‘But then he did Astral Weeks, which was gorgeous, it was fantastic.’

She also revealed that her new husband was his usual stoic self throughout the celebrations when the host asked her: ‘What sort of things was Shane saying, was he very romantic?’

‘No, not really,’ she replied. ‘He was his usual self, he hasn’t changed at all.’
