Now, that’s a faux fir! Crafty people share their VERY creative Christmas trees alternatives – including displays made from library books, tyres and computer monitors

Not everyone can face the thought of the needle-dropping that comes with a real Christmas tree, but that doesn’t mean you have to reach for the artificial kind. 

A group of crafty revelers from around the world have revealed their alternatives to the festive fir, in a fascinating new gallery compiled to Bored Panda.

Many were office workers, who used materials relevant to their industry to create Christmas tree-shaped decorations. 

A clever librarian used their green books to create a row of shelves that resembled a tree, while  an IT worker did the same- craftily using a stack of monitors.

Elsewhere, soldiers used tyres to create their own tree, while a sheriff’s office used yellow tape and hand cuffs in place of their tree ornaments.

Getting even more creative, a science laboratory grew bacteria in the shape of a Christmas tree for slightly more gruesome decor, while another used glass cylinders in place of baubles.

An American singleton by the name of u/Botatitsbest took to Reddit to share the creative tree at the local public library, put together by nine shelves of green books, in a gallery of crafty alternatives to Christmas trees

An American  IT worker found a very apt alternative to the traditional tree- craftily using a stack of monitors to create a tree before sharing it to Reddit under the name of u/thatpartyguy

Joining the gallery of crafty Christmas tree alternatives, soldier and Reddit user u/jerm1820 shared a picture of a stack of tyres and crates embellished with spray cans, writing: ‘Made our own Christmas tree where we are deployed’

Meanwhile an anonymous crafter shared a rather more edgy version of a DIY tree, made up of two saws surrounded by chains, in a gallery of crafty alternatives to Christmas trees

Kristina (kristina.len), from Germany, shared her fascinating levitating tree to Instagram, which took five hours to create by hanging baubles from the ceiling

American Reddit user u/strangeloop527 recreated Banky’s famous self-shredding artwork with this tree, writing: ‘This tree that the art center in my home town put up’

Poking fun at their industry, a sheriff’s office used yellow tape and even handcuffs in place of their tree ornaments, adding a hat in place of the star at the top of the tree

And another very clever interpretation of a tree as shared by Reddit user u/IBorealis, who wrote: ‘My family designed and made a gingerbread Christmas tree. The numbers say “Christmas Tree” in binary’

Elsewhere Reddit user GOstrovskiy  shared these rather extra-terrestrial decorations, entitled: ‘My office Christmas Tree portal version’, in a gallery of crafty alternatives to Christmas trees

A Reddit user by the name of fmudhir poked fun at their profession, revealing that they worked in an IT office and instead of baubles they decorated their tree with a 404 error code

A woman by the name of ‘you crazy lady’ shared a picture of her fascinating ‘living’ tree made up of succulents stacked to form the shape of a Christmas tree

A scientist by the name of Lady Mario made a picturesque Christmas tree in her lab, created with glass cylinders used to mix liquids before sharing it to Reddit
