Kiwi pizza snap branded an ‘abomination’ by foodies – but some want to try it

The pineapple on pizza debate is controversial enough.

But now, there’s another fruity combination that’s left foodies divided.

In a recipe that would leave Italians furious, chefs topped a cheesy base with slices of the tropical fruit.

Unsurprisingly, the unconventional pizza has sparked a lot of attention.

A picture of the takeaway item was posted to Reddit, with the uploader branding it “an unholy abomination”.

In 24 hours, the post has racked up 10,100 upvotes and hundreds of comments.

Many agreed that they wouldn’t put the pizza anywhere near their mouths.

One commenter remarked: “This makes me unreasonably angry.”

Another said: “Everyone talks crap about pineapple. But THIS is wrong on soooooo many levels I’ve lost count.”

And a third added: “A new evil has dethroned pineapple and its name is kiwi.”

Despite the backlash, some foodies were more open to the idea of trying the twist on an Italian margarita.

One responder admitted: “I dunno. I mean, this particular pizza looks bad but I kind of want to try the combo.”

A second confessed: “If pineapple goes great on a pizza (in my humble opinion) then I would not mind tasting pizza with kiwi. I would not mind at all.”

Another added: “I mean, it might taste good.”
