Kirstie Allsopp has said her family had a ‘much better summer’ as a result of her infamous decision to smash her sons’ iPads – and revealed she is yet to replace their tablets.
The Location, Location, Location presenter, 47, said on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday that she stood by her decision, and that it yielded positive results for the whole family.
Kirstie, who is mother to sons Oscar Hercules, 11, and Bay Atlas, 9, with husband Ben Andersen, confessed back in September on The Jeremy Vine Show to smashing them against a table leg as her children watched as punishment.
Her boys had failed to follow her rules about screen time, and Kirstie said that since dishing out the drastic discipline the brothers have spent more time outdoors playing.
Kirstie Allsopp has revealed that she is still yet to replace her children’s iPads that she broke as punishment in June because they did not follow her rules on screen time
After revealing she hadn’t bought her children new iPads to replace those she broke, Kirstie said on GMB: ‘The reality was pretty fantastic and I kind of feel a bit boring for saying that.
‘But we had a much better summer, all that negotiation had gone, the iPads had gone, so they couldn’t say “I will help with this if you let me do half an hour of Fortnite”.

‘We just did a lot more. They got back into their roller blades and skateboards and reading, playing chess.’
Following the confession in September Kirstie faced backlash from her social media followers who didn’t agree with her approach to parenting, and she quietly deactivated her Twitter account.
She told Piers Morgan on the ITV daytime show that she wasn’t prepared for the barrage of criticism and chose to leave the platform.
Defending suggestion she didn’t own her beliefs, she said: ‘I do stand up, whenever these things happen I don’t back down, I say the truth.
‘But I don’t deliberately go into them. And I think when you go into them by mistake the reaction is quite a shock.’
Piers Morgan said that Kirstie was too quick to leave Twitter following the criticism she received saying she should own her views and fight back
The Location, Location, Location presenter explained that the backlash over her parenting techniques were unexpected and so she chose to leave the social media platform
In July 2017 she took a short break from Twitter after comments she made about washing machines belonging outside the kitchen caused a similar uproar.
The mother-of-two also previously made headlines when she spoke about travelling in business class, while her children travelled in economy class.
Kirstie, who has a new series called Kirstie’s Homemade Christmas starting this week, also confessed that she will be jetting to sunnier climes for the festive break.
She said that she prefers a little bit of heat in the winter but that her children complain about being away.
‘For me there are loads of Christmas thing in my life which I really like… But my Christmas starts on the first of October.’
