Inside Cristiano Ronaldo’s blended family including two sets of twins and surrogacy

Cristiano Ronaldo is undoubtedly one of the world's best-known football players in the world.

Born and raised in Madeira in Portugal, Cristiano, 36, currently plays for Manchester United after first signing for them in 2003 and captains the Portugal national team.

His sporting achievements include multiple Premier League titles, the Champions League and the World Cup – but the footballer also often hits headlines thanks to his family set-up.

Off the pitch, Cristiano is a dad of four and he has another two children on the way.

Who is Cristiano's first child?

Cristiano became a father to his eldest son Cristiano Jr in 2010 in the United States. He is now 11 years old. The footballer, who was dating model Irina Shayk at the time of his son's birth, stated he has full custody of him and would not publicly reveal the identity of his mother.

Ronaldo said in 2010: "It is with great joy and emotion that I inform I have recently become father to a baby boy. As agreed with the baby's mother, who prefers to have her identity kept confidential, my son will be under my exclusive guardianship."

The footballer also spoke about the situation with Jonathan Ross, telling the chat show host: "People speculate I was with this girl or another, or there was a surrogate mother. I have never told anyone and never will.

"When Cristiano [Junior] is going to grow up, I am always going to say the truth to him because he deserves it, because he is my son, but I am not going to say because people want me to say."

In January 2015, the footballer announced his five-year relationship with Irina ended.

Cristiano became a father again to his now four-year-old twins – daughter Eva and son Mateo – in June 2017 with the help of a surrogate. The twins were also born in San Diego like their older brother. It is not known who the surrogate mother is.

The announcement shocked many fans given that Cristiano was dating Georgina Rodriguez at the time.

A representative for the footballer said in 2018: "Cristiano Ronaldo will not share any reason as to why he chose a surrogate mother, he is simply grateful that he now has twins."

Who is Georgina Rodriguez and how many children do they have together?

Georgina, now 27, first met the Man United star in 2016 while she was working at a Gucci branch in Madrid.

The couple then welcomed their first baby together, a daughter named Alana, just a month following his surrogate twins' arrival in July 2017.

Cristiano said following the arrival of his daughter: "Being a father is a unique and personal journey, something that has changed me completely.

"It's taught me things about love that I never knew existed. It has softened me and given me a different perspective on what is really important in my life.

"Being a father and seeing my family grow is, without doubt, the greatest privilege I've had. Spending time with them, being by their side, smiling and laughing with them. They've brought a lot of happiness and joy to my life."

And it's no surprise that the star is now expecting twins again with Georgina after his oldest son expressed how much he wanted more brothers and sisters.

Cristiano previously told Portugese Paper Correio de Manha: "He wants more brothers and sisters. He wants seven, the magic number and I think that's good." The number seven has added significance for the star as it's his football shirt number.

From four to six

Cristiano and Georgina are now expecting twins – a boy and a girl – which will expand their brood to six children in their blended family.

The dad of four shared the news by posting a video of his four children gathered around the Christmas tree where they popped the balloons in front of them.

Fans could see a flurry of blue and pink confetti into the air, as Georgina prompted her children to say the words "boy" and "girl" in Spanish.

"Where life begins and love never ends #blessed," the star wrote on Instagram.

The pair first announced they were expecting twins together back in October, writing: "Delighted to announce we are expecting twins. Our hearts are full of love – we can’t wait to meet you #blessed."
