I stopped drinking to save cash – but I really miss it | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: LIFE has become so expensive that I packed in drinking to save cash – but I really miss it.

I realised I was spending £75 a week on booze and couldn’t afford it, not when my bills have doubled.

I’m a 40-year-old single man and I know I probably drink too much.

But now I’ve gone cold turkey, I’m finding it hard.

The evenings feel long and lonely, especially if I can’t even pop into my local for a pint.

I wonder if I’d be better off allowing myself to drink a little on my nights off, I’d still save money.

The problem is, past experience shows I’m not good at drinking in moderation.

Have I left it too late to leave my nasty husband?

Perhaps you could go to the pub, but only take enough cash for two drinks, or go later in the evening so you’re there for last orders.
