Five times Kate Middleton took fashion tips from The Queen

There is no denying Kate Middleton never puts a foot wrong when it comes to her classic style we all know and love.

Whether the Duchess of Cambridge is attending a gala in a ballgown, heading to an event in a dress coat or getting down and dirty in casual wear, she always looks perfectly presented – and it seems Kate has been taking advice from Her Majesty the Queen.

The Queen, who is Grandmother to Kate's husband, Prince William, has reigned the throne since she was just 25, so it's no wonder she has imparted her years of wisdom onto future Queen, Kate.

Here are 5 times The Queen has influenced Kate Middleton's style

1. Jewel Tones

The Queen often steps out in bold bright hues, usually opting for dazzling jewel tones – just last week her Royal Highness was seen in a delightful cobalt blue ensemble looking her usual bright self.

Kate Middleton is also a big fan of bright shades, and is often seen at events in block brights. Just this week Kate opted for a chic all red look – and has been spotted in similar blue hues to the queen on many occasions.

2. Always Accessorise

The Queen is a big fan of accessorising her looks, and is rarely seen without a matching hat to her coat, as well as finishing touches including gloves, brooches and of course, her pearls.

Learning from the best, Kate clearly knows the power of accessorising her looks, often taking cue from the Queen and matching her hat and accessories to her on-duty looks.

Whilst Kate isn't often opting for pearls or brooches, the Duchess certainly never shies away from a head piece of matching clutch bag – and she certainly loves her earrings.

3. All In The Details

When not opting for bold brights, The Queen is also a big fan of pastels, often with intricate details in the fabric such as embroidery or embellishment.

Both The Queen and Kate Middleton took to the Buckingham Palace balcony for the Diamond Jubilee in 2012 in elegant pastel ensembles with brocade detailing, with both leading ladies finishing their look with matching hats and delicate jewels.

4. Matching Moments

The Queen and Kate Middleton both know the power of dressing to match the occasion – no matter what they are attending.

As seen above, Kate and Queenie walk together at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, perfectly pairing their floral frocks for the occasion.

With nothing more suitable than a floral number at the Flower Show, the Queen and Duchess finish off their looks with pearl jewellery.

5. Weight It Down

To prevent any embarrassing mishaps, both royal ladies conceal hidden weights into their skirts and dresses so they can tackle windy weather whilst dressed to the nines – without any flashing.

Taking advice from her senior, Kate always looks as elegant as ever come rain or shine thanks to the secret weight trick used by royals – we need to try this out!
