Best restaurants in Hong Kong that need to be on every foodie’s bucket list

Hong Kong is filled with brilliant restaurants serving up everything from authentic local cuisine to gastronomical twists on classics.

It’s a foodie haven but with so much on offer, searching out the best dishes and top restaurants where you can taste them can feel like a pretty daunting task.

As well as traditional offerings including the Dim Sum carts that can be found across the city, there are some restaurants which serve up seriously delicious food.

The good news is that local food bloggers are on hand to help – and they’ve teamed up with FoodPanda to share their top picks for visitors looking to explore the best of Hong Kong’s culinary scene.

We take a look at their restaurant recommendations – and the dishes you absolutely need to try if you’re visiting…

1. La Rôtisserie

All that sightseeing can make for hungry work, but you can easily replenish your energies with a hearty lunch, not to mention it’s surprisingly cheap compared to other eateries.

Top of the menu needs to be their iconic roast chicken dishes – blogger The HK Hub says they can’t walk by without going in because the smell can be so enticing.

2. Oddie’s Foodies

If it’s dessert you’re after, then head to Oddie’s Foodies where you’ll find plenty of treats to indulge your sweet tooth. Think big scoops of ice cream, quirky flavours like black sugar gelato with sesame seeds and caramel, and hearty soft serve offerings.

However if you only try one thing, local food blogger The Loop HK recommends trying the egg waffles!

3. Casa Lisboa

For something completely different, head to Casa Lisboa and taste their traditional Portuguese fair – but if you only try one dish make it their delicious Bacalhau Cassoulet.

According to the HK Hub who comes from Portugal, this restaurant is as close as possible to her mum’s cooking.

As for prices, expect mid-range offerings but still great value for the decent portions.
