12 Best Deodorants For Men 2021 | The Sun UK

NEED protection from perspiration? Well, investing in one of the best deodorants for men could be just the thing. Not only does deodorant protect against sweating but it can come in a variety of scents suitable for all skin types.

Whether you love to work out, are on the go all day or just simply sweat, deodorant can help put body odour back under control, in a flash.

Sweating is very normal. When your body temperature rises from exercise, heat, stress, or hormone shifts, sweating helps keep your internal temperature at a comfortable 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit.

When your underarms become moist they can release body odour. Deodorants will eliminate smells caused by bacteria that form in your moist underarms, while antiperspirants prevent sweat from forming so bacteria can't grow.

So if in need of a quick fix, a good deodorant or antiperspirant can help at a moment's notice- and is small enough to carry around in your pocket.

We have curated our top deodorants to leave you smelling and feeling fresh all day…

What is deodorant?

Deodorant has progressed a lot in the last 100 years since it was introduced in Victorian times.

Originally introduced in 1888, and simply titled Mum, it used to stain clothes and was even the cause of inflammation and irritation. Oh, have times have changed! Thankfully we have come a long way since then with formulas being effective and gentle on the skin using much kinder ingredients.

There are a plethora of products on the market including roll-ons, gels and sprays, antiperspirants, and deodorants, many specifically made for men. These deodorants take into consideration men’s hair, skin type, and fragrance but of course, all genders can use them.

What is the best men's deodorant?

There are many good men’s deodorants on the market but when looking for one, it should work well and last for a period of time. Deodrant should leave you feeling fresh and smelling good and not leave any reminiscents on clothes. Some deodorants are aimed more towards everyday sweating and others are even stronger, for when you do vigorous exercise. Some, of course, do both!

Deodrant should help with odour and som have Antiperspirant properties to stop sweating also.

There are many budget brands available such as Sure, Sanex, and Lynx which come in between £1.50, and more luxury deodorants including Aesop, Acqua di Parma, and Hugo Boss.

Is men's deodorant stronger than women's?

It is said that biologically men sweat more than women so some antiperspirants and deodorants that are marketed for men can be more effective than those marketed toward women. This is all down to the strength of scent!

When it comes to deodorant ingredients, men’s deodorants include similar to women’s. The only difference is the scent which can vary in strength from brand to brand. While women’s deodorants are often light, floral, and zesty, men’s deodorants frequently have woody, musky, and spicy hints.

Can a woman wear men's deodorant?

Absolutely! Many women's deodorants are floral, citrusy, or light in scent. While this may appeal to some women, it may not to others. Men's deodorants can be stronger smelling, often with hints of musk, which is why many prefer to use the deodorants marketed towards men.

Can men use women's deodorant?

Similarly there is no reason why a man cannot wear a deodorant marketed specifically for women. Deodorants and antiperspirants all have the same job, to combat odour and in antiperspirants case, stop sweating- and many have the same ingredients too.

But the scent is what sets them apart. Many brands now have not specified which gender their products are for, and therefore are classified as unisex. It’s all down to individual preference and what works for you.
