Toffee apples are a classic Halloween and Bonfire Night treat and they are much easier to make than you might think.
You might panic at the idea of boiling hot toffee but the mixture needs just two ingredients.
Add in the apple itself and you can whip this up with just three things.
For the toffee, you’ll need golden syrup and caster sugar.
If you want to add to the traditional recipe, you can also pick up some nuts or sprinkles to roll the apples in but its optional.
And of course, if you aren’t a toffee fan, you can always try dipping the apples in melted chocolate instead, or create a mix of both.
You’ll need something to attach to the apples to make it easier to dip, and to hold as you eat it.
If you have some lollipop sticks, they work well, or try BBQ skewers or if you’re just making them to eat at home, sticking a fork into the top is a good alternative.
- 6 apples (choose whichever variety you like best)
- 300g caster sugar
- 3 tbsp golden syrup
- Nuts, sprinkles, dried fruit (optional)
