Food recalls can be issued when a problem is spotted with a product. Asda revealed the Nestlé Milkybar item has been voluntarily recalled by the manufacturer.
The affected packs are the Nestlé Milkybar Little Treats yogurts.
Customers should look out for the packs in 330g, which consist of six x 55g pots.
Those who have bought the snack should check for the best before dates of February 13, 2021 and February 14, 2021.
The best before date can be found printed on the top of the pot lids.
A statement posted on the Asda website today said: “As a precautionary measure, Lactalis Nestlé Chilled Dairy UK is voluntarily recalling the above product with the specific Use-by date 13/02 and 14/02.”
It continued the recall had been issued due to a “strong unpleasant salty taste”.
The statement explained this was caused by “an ingredient which is part of the normal composition but that has been overdose in the production of these batches.”
It added: “There is no food safety or health risk but impact on taste can be unpleasant to consumers.”
No other batches or date codes of the Milkybar Little Treats are affected.
Anyone who has bought the affected batches has been asked not to consume them.
Instead, the pots should be disposed of and shoppers can get a refund by returning the top of the pot lid.
This should be sent to: Freepost Nestlé UK Consumer Services, Nestlé Milkybar Little Treats Recall, PO BOX 205, YORK, YO91 1XY.
Customers can also contact the Nestlé Customer Careline on 0800 00 00 30 for more information.
This week, Asda also shared a warning for Yoplait YOP Strawberry Flavour yogurt drink.
The product was recalled as ingredients were not listed in English on the label, which could cause a risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance.
A statement from Asda said: “General Mills UK is voluntarily recalling a limited quantity of YOP STRAWBERRY 6 x 500g with Best Before date 6th Feb 2021.
“The recall is being carried out due to the incorrect language appearing on the pack, meaning that the allergens are not correctly declared in English.
“There is no food safety risk associated with this batch of product.”
The affected packs have the barcode 332977001449 and the best before date of February 6, 2021.
Those who bought the treats can return them to stores where they would be given a full refund.
