Looking to spice up your summer?
We’ve found just the thing.
A hot sauce festival is returning to the capital this August, offering a chilli-fuelled weekend of goodies.
More than 40 individual craft hot sauce makers will be arriving at Peckham’s Copeland Park to celebrate the popular condiment.
Set to run for two days from Saturday 21 August, the Hot Sauce Society festival will boast something for every heat tolerance.
Suppliers will be coming from all over the country to offer up their spicy sauces, including Pat and Pinky’s, Vicky’s Kitchen, Condimaniac, Wiltshire Chilli Farm, Saucy Bitch and Brighton Hot Sauces – with more than 20 new to the festival this year.
On the street food side of things, there will be treats from the Only Jerkin’ team – who will be selling the legendary OJ Hot Sauce alongside extra hot jerk BBQ chicken wings – as well as Indian-inspired vegan delights courtesy of En Root and tacos from Dos Mas.
The team at Dishoom will also be on hand to offer out Dishoom IPA – a good option to calm down fiery mouths.
As well as plenty of hot sauce, there will be craft beer, cocktails, DJs and dancing – so lots to get stuck into.
A ‘Best In Show’ hot sauce competition will also be running throughout the weekend – so contenders can submit their sauces for different categories. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on the last day of the event.
Allie Behr, founder of Hot Sauce Society, said: ‘We are delighted to bring back this unique community event for a second year.
‘We always have so much fun welcoming all the different characters and companies that make this event what it is. I can’t wait to find my new favourite sauce.’
