The time has finally come: the Victoria’s Secret Angels and VS Fashion Show supermodels have ascended upon New York City to tape the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. And to celebrate the return of the fashion event to NYC in 2018, Us Weekly went backstage to powow with models including Sara Sampaio, Taylor Hill, Adriana Lima and Shanina Shaik to get their supermodel secrets from their pre-show rituals to their workout routines and beyond.

First, the ladies of VS like to keep their routines meaningful. Sampaio tells Senior Reporter Travis Cronin that her pre-show ritual is “Try to breathe. You would be surprised, but I hold my breath a lot.” Meanwhile Taylor Hill explains to Cronin that the key is “to remind myself that I worked really hard to get here and that I’ve got this.”

But supermodel Shanina Shaik’s pre-show ritual has to be the best of the lot: “Usually I hang out with my girlfriends and laugh and joke around. But also, I like to do a few squats as well to get the blood flowing and some last minute pre-show definition.”
Speaking of workouts, Adriana Lima dishes to Travis that while she loves boxing, she likes to add functional training to her routine to get in runway shape before the show. Shaik however, is more strict with her diet. “I was more strict leading up to the show, cutting out a lot of sugar. And I cut out carbs two weeks before.”
But the best tidbit was probably Adriana Lima’s advice for channeling the Angel mentality at home: “It’s all about how you feel. Watch a movie that makes you smile. Listening to inspirational music. Get your nails done and dress yourself up,” she explains.
