Suits you, Sir: how men's suiting finally moved on

Andrew Richardson leans back and strikes a pose in his window check suit. The handsome 6ft 2in man from Co Mayo has walked the catwalk, and he is back in Ireland to model for Louis Copeland. The photoshoot identifies a new trend emerging in the formal male clothing market. David O’Connor, general manager at Louis Copeland, calls it “the casualisation of suits and the fact that the modern suit should be thought of as two, or three, pieces rather than just a standard grey or navy suit.”

The concept is to buy well, go top end for the best cut and fabrics and then use your jacket or trousers as separate pieces to maximise the wear.

Think of pairing your suit not only with shirts and ties but try wearing a fine knit, long-sleeve polo- or roll-neck for a chic casual look for the Christmas party season. A pocket-square finishes any casual jacket look and it should compliment rather than match the jacket.
