Lingerie is so individual to everyone and it’s important to wear makes you feel great. “Valentine’s lingerie is about feeling good about and appreciating your body and wearing what makes you feel your best,” says Roslyn Ellis, Lingerie Buyer at Brown Thomas – which has 68 different sizes available, from back sizes 30-44 and cup sizes AA through to an H.
We feature two non-wire styles in our three-page Valentine’s shoot because this trend has really taken off over the last few years, Roslyn reports.
“Love of lingerie and athleisure, as well as redefined sexy, has resulted in more non-wire options becoming available, and all of our key brands are evolving to customer demand as they know that C, D, and DD cups want to wear this trend too,” she says.
“The Wacoal lace non-wire style is a great example of this. Cross-dye lace and scallop-edging lifts the bralette shape, and the under-bust elastic band provides lift and support. Love Stories now have plus cups available in their bralettes, as well as the traditional sizing, and the ‘Lemon’ bralette featured in the shoot is an example of this,” she says.
For colour preference, black is a feel-good and flattering option says Roslyn, but colour is always a good way to lift a mood. “Pinks are always popular especially blush pinks as they are functional and also substitute for a nude, and pop pinks are a fun way to lift an outfit or mood. Silk feels sensational next to the skin and the La Perla silk chemise and robe in the Bordeaux colourway is a flattering colour and a good classic alternative to black.”
Lingerie is also down to personal preference: two people can be the same size on paper but need completely different shapes, so it is important to get fitted which is a complimentary service at the store.
“What makes a bra comfortable is when shoulder straps, back strap and cups stay perfectly in place to support the bust without digging into you, and a correctly-fitted and high-quality bra will enhance the beauty of your bust, help you walk taller and feel better in or out of your clothes,” says Roslyn.
