The Princess has a variety of items in her wardrobe, from designer pieces to high street staples. Despite the hundreds of gowns Kate owns, she also has more than one pair of trainers, worn for more casual royal engagements, such as when she participates in physical activities or sporting events.
Before the 1980s, seeing members of the Royal Family in trainers was rare, but, since the days of Princess Diana and her riskier fashion choices, more royal women have been spotted sporting the comfortable shoes.
Diana’s trainers were usually chunky and white, worn with an oversized jumper and tight gym shorts.
Meanwhile, the trainers Kate is usually spotted wearing are also white, but with a flatter sole.
One of the pairs of trainers that appear to be Kate’s favourite is from high street classic Marks and Spencer, costing just £29.50.
The retailer’s trainers are the Ribbon Detail Lace Up Trainers and are white with light pink and green stripes, with a green label at the back.
The shoes look similar to Adidas trainers because of the stripes on each side, and they seem robust and sturdy.
There are in fact five stripes on each side, following the pattern light pink, silver, green, light pink, and dark blue.
Describing the trainers on its website, Marks and Spencer said: “Striped ribbon trims with a dash of sparkle give these clean-cut trainers a personality boost.

“This lace-up pair is made with our Insolia Flex® technology, ensures longer-lasting comfort during long days on your feet. Made from vegan-friendly materials.”
The shoes quickly sold out after Kate first wore them, but Marks and Spencer did eventually restock them, adding more colours to the mix.
Currently sold out again, there were silver and black versions of the trainers available to buy too.
The Princess of Wales first donned the trainers back in February 2020, when she attended an event for the Sports Aid charity at the Olympic Park in east London.
At the time, Kate wore an emerald green long-sleeved top and a pair of slouchy navy blue trousers.
The trainers therefore matched the outfit – the stripes coordinating with the colours.
Another pair of trainers Kate often wears is from Superga. Called the Superga 2750 Cotu Classic Canvas Sneakers in White, the then-Duchess first donned the trainers in September 2016 during her and Prince William’s tour of Canada.
Pairing them with everything from slim black jeans and a white tennis sweater to pink trousers with a smart white top, Kate has worn the trainers 12 times since their debut.
Kate seemed to like the shoes so much that she re-purchased them – seemingly this year.
Between visiting The Bahamas in March 2022 and attending a Sail GB event in Plymouth in July, the Supergas gained an extra eyelet. This means the second pair is likely to be a newer version of the same trainers.
The second pair was also a lot cleaner when pictured at the sailing event. These trainers are now for sale on the Superga website for just £47.20.
At the time, Kate combined the shoes with a pair of white, high-waisted shorts and a striped Breton top.
