Meghan Markle has worn a collection of pieces from Diana’s wardrobe. These include iconic pieces and less well-known gems. One jewellery expert has valuated the pieces exclusively for

The engagement ring

Charlotte White, head of design at Europe’s largest online jeweller 77 Diamonds analysed Meghan’s diamond ring with three stones.

She said: “The centre stone is surrounded by two round diamonds, estimated at just under a carat each. Allegedly, these stones are from Diana’s tennis bracelet.

“The centre stone is a stunning 3ct diamond famously sourced from Botswana, one of the first places Harry and Meghan went as a couple.”

In fact, Meghan redesigned the ring, adding some more sparkle.

She said: “The original engagement ring had an unadorned yellow gold band and featured two larger side stones. Following Meghan’s pregnancy announcement, Harry enlisted celebrity jeweller Lorraine Schwartz to resize and reset the centre stone on a thin diamond band, giving a more contemporary look to the design.”

Charlotte estimated the ring would be worth £300,000 due to its provenance, and £128,000 for the value of the materials and craftmanship away from its royals connections.

The aquamarine and diamond ring

Charlotte said: “This aquamarine ring is estimated at around 30ct, and features two smaller diamonds on either side that create a stunning trilogy effect.

£It has a fine ocean-blue colour that is very sought-after, as this gem is said to bring the wearer peace and tranquillity.”

Claire would estimate the value at £50,000 thanks to its connection to Princess Diana.

The piece alone would likely fetch £18,000, while 77 Diamonds could recreate the gem for £8,000.

The gold cuff

Charlotte said: “This gold cuff is probably set in 18K gold, and features blue cabochon gems that seem to be sapphires.

“It’s a piece that can be stacked with multiple bracelets, as shown here by both Meghan and Diana. We could recreate the same design for around £1,900.”

The Cartier diamond bracelet

“Judging by the images, I would say this bracelet has a total carat weight of around 3ct to 5ct,” Claire said.

“Given its speculated Cartier origin, one estimate the value at £125,000. This is a very fashionable style of bracelet and can be easily recreated. At 77 Diamonds we sell a very similar tennis bracelet called the Ballerina for around £4500. The Mayfair retail price for this in any other jeweller would be around £6000.”

The butterfly earrings

These delicate, handcrafted earrings are unique and eye-catching.

“They are set with diamonds and darker gems that could be sapphires.

“The yellow gold complements the clarity of the diamonds and contrasts well with the darker stones.

“Based on similar pieces for sale, I would estimate this piece to be around 0.7ct. At 77 Diamonds, we would be able to create a similar design for around £1,100.”

However, the expert has suggested Meghan Markle has ‘not inherited’ any more jewellery from Princess Diana.

Charlotte said: Given Meghan’s readiness to embrace Diana’s legacy and fondness for some of her pieces, it is a difficult question whether Meghan has inherited anything else from Diana.

“On the one hand, she has not publicly displayed reluctance to use her late mother-in-law’s pieces.

“On the other hand, the low number of pieces worn and the fact that most of them have been spotted on many occasions suggests that these are the only ones she has inherited, hence why she would reuse them.”

Claire estimated these pieces would fetch £7,000 after being linked to Meghan.
