DIY fan revamps drab mirror using Wilko & eBay bargains and it looks incredible

IF money were no object, we'd have purchased a whole set of ornate-style mirrors by now – but as it stands, they can cost a small fortune.

That said, one savvy DIY fan has revealed how she achieved the look for less with some standout Wilko and eBay bargains.

Posting on the Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, the woman explained how she began by sanding down the old pine mirror and filling any cracks with filler.

She then purchased a £6 tin of silver metallic paint from Wilko and ornate metal appliqués from eBay which set her back £30.

Sharing photos of the process, she wrote: "I painted a couple of coats, filled in any wood notches and sanded, painted the appliqués and glued them on.

"Hope this inspires someone to DIY an old peice of furniture during lockdown – the results are amazing and are a lot cheaper compared to purchasing a french antique looking mirror!"

Unsurprisingly, the woman's mirror transformation was a hit on the group.

"That's really clever," one member replied. "Looks amazing!"

Another gushed: "Lovvvve, lovvvvvve, lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvve this!!!"

"I have a mirror just like this," a third wrote. "Great idea!"

For more amazing home transformations, this DIY fan who couldn’t afford £700 sideboard revamps £40 Facebook Marketplace unit & it looks amazing.
