Nina Dobrev served us a great, big dollop of shade when confronted with a photo of her ex, Ian Somerhalder, and her pal, Paul Wesley.
Her Vampire Diaries co-stars were seen enjoying a drink while sitting side-by-side to celebrate the launch of their new company, Brothers Bond Bourbon.
Die-hard fans of Nian Domerhalder will remember that Nina and Ian dated for three years until 2013.
Nina and Paul, meanwhile, had a love-hate relationship on the Vampire Diaries set, with the actress previously admitting she ‘despised’ him at the start.
Now, in the interests of drama, E! news re-posted their photo on Instagram, tagged Nina and captioned it, ‘You’re Elena on #TheVampireDiaries. Who are you choosing?’
So – stuck between a rock and a hard place – the 31-year-old star simply replied, ‘the bourbon’ alongside a winking face emoji.
Well. Played. Nina.
Nina and Ian starred as Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore on the hit CW show, The Vampire Diaries, which premiered in 2009.
They were first linked in 2010 and reportedly split three years later, but continued to play an onscreen couple.
Ian went on to marry Twilight star, Nikki Reed, in 2015 and they welcomed their first child, daughter Bodhi in 2017, while Nina is now dating Shaun White.
Nina and Ian are still good mates though, with the actress previously revealing their ‘friendship is strong’.
‘I think that they have a beautiful baby and they are happy and so am I,’ she said on Watch What Happens Live.
‘What’s bad about that? I don’t see any problem with that.’
She was equally vocal about her dynamic with co-star Paul Wesley (aka Stefan Salvatore), admitting last October that they really didn’t get on – before eventually becoming BFFs.
‘Paul and I didn’t get along at the beginning of the show. I respected Paul Wesley, I didn’t like Paul Wesley,’ Nina said on her podcast.
‘I remember everyone would walk up to me after the show aired, and they’d be like, “Are you and Paul dating in real life?” Because everyone thought that we had such good chemistry.
‘We despised each other so much, that it read as love.’
It all worked out a-ok in the end though, with Nina explaining: ‘We ended up getting to a good place and it was fine. Of everyone, I think I probably see him the most and hang out with him the most. We’re probably the closest.’
She even wished Paul a happy 38th birthday last month with a cute selfie of the duo, alongside the caption: ‘HBD to my [only] Stefan [forever].’
