The Elder Scrolls 6 is definitely not coming to PS5 reveals new court documents
Any final doubts about whether The Elder Scrolls 6 is an exclusive have been ended thanks to new information from Microsoft.
With Starfield now out, and selling well, the next game from Bethesda Game Studios will be The Elder Scrolls 6, the long-awaited follow-up to Skyrim. There has been considerable controversy over whether it will be released on PlayStation 5 or not and now we seem to have the definitive answer: no.
The issue first seemed to be settled in June, when an internal email, revealed as part of Microsoft’s court case with the FTC, made it clear that Xbox boss Phil Spencer had decided to make all Bethesda games Xbox and PC exclusives back in 2021.
The email is unambiguous but because Microsoft has never acknowledged its contents in public the question has rumbled on, but now a newly revealed document seems to make it perfectly clear: The Elder Scrolls 6 is not going to be on any PlayStation console.
The chart was produced by Microsoft for the FTC and indicates that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be released ‘2026 or later’, a date that was first mentioned by Microsoft lawyers during the court case.
The chart also includes a quote from a Phil Spencer interview with GQ, in which he said: ‘In order to be on Xbox, I want us to be able to bring the full complete package of what we have. And that would be true when I think about Elder Scrolls 6.’
Since both this and the 2021 revelations come directly from Microsoft, there really seems no reason to question things further, even if Microsoft is unlikely to admit to anything without prompting.
Yet another document indicates that Microsoft is planning to stream PC games in the future, which is not something that’s been officially announced, but hardly comes as a surprise.
