Although it’s been six years since Olivia Attwood dragged her suitcase out of the Love Island villa doors, her best moments live on in memes, and ex Chris Hughes unexpectedly shared one recently.
Olivia, 32, and Chris, 30, coupled up on the 2017 series of the ITV dating show, and entertained viewers with their on-and-off relationship.
The pair finished in third place but called time on their romance within a few months.
Although Chris and Olivia’s lives have since taken them in two different directions, they are once again being linked.
It’s all due to Olivia’s new husband Bradley Dack, 29, who has left Blackburn Rovers and signed with Sunderland.
How is this relevant? Well, because Chris is a longtime supporter of the football team.
He previously said: ‘I’ve been a Sunderland fan from the age of three. I don’t live there, I was sent the Sunderland Echo every week. I went to first game in ‘99 when I was six, we lost, shock.
‘I’m Sunderland till I die, wouldn’t have it any other way. You can’t take out what’s embedded in your blood.’
Chris showed his sense of humour while addressing the unique situation on Twitter.
In response to the news, he chose to post a throwback video from Love Island with no caption. In the short clip, Chris has his hands covering his ears while Olivia files her nails.
Olivia has shown her support for the most recent series of Love Island, which was won by Jess Harding and Sammy Root.
She appeared on the final Aftersun and even hosted an official viewing party, and has now passionately defended the show following news of dwindling viewing figures.
Last summer’s series, which saw Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti take the crown, was watched by 3.4million viewers while only 1.5 million tuned in to watch Jess and Sammy’s victory, but Olivia doesn’t see this as being detrimental to the show’s success.
‘People are watching things on streaming services rather than live as we’re all busy. I hardly ever catch live telly anymore,’ she began.
‘The viewers are in the millions still. There’s still a huge draw to watch it. It doesn’t makes sense to end Love Island because it makes people happy. It’s a fun show and I think it’s got a long future.’
She still loves the programme so much that she’d be willing return for the rumoured all-stars version – due to her new married status it would have to be purely for a cameo role.
‘Nothing has been confirmed to me about it but if it is true then yeah I’d absolutely love to take part,’ Olivia told us.
‘I’d love to do that.’
For now, she’s concentrating on a different reality show – Olivia Marries Her Match, which will provide intimate access to her hen do, wedding prep, and the special day which took place at Bulgari Hotel in London’s Knightsbridge in June.
Viewers will be treated to all the highs and lows as Olivia has always been passionate about putting the real into reality.
‘What I always try and stick to is to keep in bits where you feel like you don’t want to film as that’s what makes the show real,’ she explained.
‘If you ask them to stop filming every time you don’t look right, or you’re in a bad mood then you’re going to make a show that’s staged.
‘I’m very passionate about reality TV being as real as possible because as a viewer, that’s what I want.’
Olivia Marries Her Match is on tonight at 9pm on ITVBE and ITVX and continues on Thursday and Friday this week.
