Miley Cyrus Gives Billie Eilish's "My Future" a Little Edge With This Rock Ballad Rendition

Watch Miley Cyrus Cover Billie Eilish’s “My Future”

Miley Cyrus has managed to transform a meditative Billie Eilish single into a jazzy rock ballad. The singer, who has become known for giving good music covers, recently performed Eilish’s “My Future” for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge. Whereas the original song is lulling in a beautiful way, Cyrus’s rendition is charged with vibrating vocals and a punk attitude. She even punctuated the song’s final line (“I’ll see you in a couple years”) with “but probably not” and her signature tongue-out expression.

In addition to the cover, Cyrus also performed her own recent singles “Midnight Sky” and “Slide Away,” the former of which she sang in a glossy, ’80s-inspired performance at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday. Though Eilish didn’t make an appearance at the award show — neither physically nor virtually — she did recently offer fans a therapeutic Tiny Desk Concert and also performed “My Future” at the Democratic National Convention.
