Mel B went temporarily blind due to an eye herpes infection just days before the Spice Girls tour began and the whole thing sent her into a total meltdown.
The Spice Girls singer went into a ‘complete panic’ when her vision turned blurry during rehearsals for their reunion tour last weekend – just days before the band’s first show in Dublin.
Now, she’s finally addressed the ordeal and told The Sun that she honestly thought she was ‘going to go blind’.
Recalling the moment her vision started failing, Mel, 43, said she kept ‘blinking’ to try and stop the blurriness.
She had a total loss of vision in her right eye and shared a selfie of her wearing a rather fetching eye patch, after being taken to London’s Moorfields Eye Hospital to have it all checked out.
Eye herpes or ocular herpes is a common, recurrent viral infection affecting the eyes. This type of herpes virus can cause swelling around the eyes, irritation, pain and sensitivity to light.
After her hospital dash, the infection is now ‘under control’ and Mel is ‘looking forward to the tour’ – a Spice Girls spokesperson assured Metro.co.uk last week.
The Spice Girls launched their epic stadium reunion tour on Friday (24 May) at Dublin’s Croke Park.
And despite being hit with vocal and sound issues, Mel assured fans that the girls are doing everything they can to make it better for the rest of their upcoming dates.
Technical glitches or not, seeing the girls back on stage is still giving us all the feels.
