Martin Kemp and Lady Leshurr will reportedly join forces for a new talent-style competition series called School Of Ages.
The new BBC show is set to fill in a considerable gap in the market after reports that Simon Cowell's The X Factor will not return until next year.
The new show will feature wannabe musicians from the sixties and seventies who compete as part of two epic new bands.
Spandau Ballet star Martin and the 32 year old rapper, real name Melesha Katrina O'Garro, are said to serve as mentors who will work with the groups to hone their sound and image.
A source has told The Sun: "Rock Of Ages is a fun, feel-good show a bit like The X Factor but without the drama. Filming starts this month, and at the moment, it's pencilled in to air in September.
"Martin and Lady Leshurr will be helping to choose who works best for each band, and will be dishing out advice and experience from their time in the industry," it was added.
The publication also states that the bands will also have the opportunity to perform at the Isle of Wight Festival in September if Covid restriction permit.
OK! has contacted representatives for Martin and Lady Leshurr.
Earlier this year, it was reported that the series would not return until 2022 as ITV bosses are said to have decided to give the show's regular annual format a break for at least 12 months.
The Simon Cowell fronted series was also cancelled last year due to the Covid pandemic.
At the time, ITV also said they were considering taking the competition off-air entirely after the break period.
ITV boss Kevin announced: "It's not definitely returning, it might return, and if it does the format will tweak.
"I think people always talk about format changes. I know it was the most successful entertainment show for decades.
"And you need to be wary of changes, we all think there were too many changes towards the end of the run, but I'm sure X Factor will be back at some stage and it's really, 'When is the right moment'."
