Tom Parker has announced the details of a charity concert in aid of Stand Up To Cancer and The National Brain Appeal after revealing his cancer diagnosis.
The Wanted star’s concert will be hosted by Roman Kemp and Sonny Jay and will feature a stellar line-up of UK talent, which will be announced over the coming weeks.
Set for September 20 at the Royal Albert Hall, the Inside My Head concert will be a night of fun and joy, with tickets going on sale this week. Highlights will be broadcast as part of Tom’s Channel 4 documentary of the same name.
Tom said: ‘Almost a year ago, my world was turned upside down by my diagnosis.
‘I was absolutely shocked to discover how low the percentage of the annual research budget for cancer that is devoted to brain tumour research. I want to use my voice and platform to do something about it and help in any small way I can.
‘Music is my life so a concert to raise much needed funds seemed like the perfect idea. We have some amazing artists signed up and I’m really excited, it’s gonna be an amazing night.’
The father-of-two was diagnosed with stage four glioblastoma – an aggressive brain tumour – in September 2020, and has been sharing updates on his treatment and progress on social media.
Despite the difficult side-effects of the treatment, Tom recently said that he has had a ‘significant reduction’ after radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
Revealing that he was struggling to eat after undergoing chemotherapy, the star explained on Instagram: ‘Chemo just absolutely knocks it out of you!! Do we have any better treatments for cancer yet.’
Most recently, Tom showed how he’s been using muscle stimulation to strengthen his leg after his mobility was affected by his tumour.
As his thigh muscles twitched in his video, Tom told his followers: ‘Sexy, huh? So basically this is called a Compex machine and what it does is stimulate the muscles because obviously this side has got a bit weaker because of where the tumour was.
‘So I have lost a bit of mobility on the left side but this hopefully will get everything stimulated and moving again.’
Tickets for Inside My Head will go on sale this Friday at 10am, priced from £45 plus booking fee. Go to www.Royalalberthall.com/tickets.
