Sophie Ellis-Bextor has given birth to her fifth baby with her husband Richard Jones – just four months after going public with her pregnancy.
The 39-year-old singer, famous for her hit Murder On The Dancefloor, announced the happy news of her latest family addition with a sweet post.
She wrote: "He’s here! Mickey Jones born today weighing 7lb 1oz and he’s absolutely gorgeous. Welcome to our quirky little family, sweet boy. We’re so glad you’re here safe. Xxxxxxxxxxxx"
The newborn joins Sophie and Richard’s other children – all boys.
They have Sonny, 13, Kit, nine, Ray, five, and three-year-old Jesse, who was born in 2015.
Sophie revealed they were expecting their fifth in August 2018 when she appeared on Chris Evans’ Radio 2 show to plug her new solo music.
"The album will come out around the same time as my fifth infant because I’m having my fifth baby. Mental!" she laughed.
Chris asked Sophie if it ever got any easier, to which she replied: "No I don’t think it does, but I think you get more relaxed with the chaos."
She added: "I’ve just had a week away with Richard and five kids because our eldest brought a mate and I took a book, which now seems like the most optimistic thing I could have done. It didn’t even get opened."
Chris also asked Sophie if he’d compared notes with his wife, Natasha Shishmanian, who at that point was still pregnant with their twins, Boo and Walt.
She said: "Yes of course. It’s very exciting, your babies are going to be here soon."
Sophie explained how she and Richard hadn’t wanted to find out the sex of their fifth and revealed she loves being pregnant.
She and former The Feeling bassist Richard have always wanted a big family, although in the past she’s denied feeling "addicted" to wanting more babies.
"I don’t think I’d have used that word," she told the Telegraph in September 2016.
"I just always liked the idea of having lots of children, and I love the way the dynamic changes every time."
But, she went on, she and Richard were never fussed about having a little girl.
"Honestly, I’ve never been bothered about having a daughter," she said in the same interview.
"I really don’t care. If there was a button you could press to have either a boy or a girl, I’d always walk away from it."
Congratulations, Sophie and Richard!
