Prince Harry and Prince William are said to have “reconnected” over Christmas, but will “never be as close“ as they were before, reports claim.

The royal brothers are said to be talking “relatively regularly”, according to a royal expert.

Prince Harry, 36, and Prince William, 38, were said to have not spoken for several months after the Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down from their roles as senior royals.

But now, after the Harry moved to the United States with wife Meghan and son Archie, the brothers are said to be in regular contact.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight: “Fast forward to today, the relationship is much better than it was.

“For a start, they are on talking terms, and not only on talking terms, they do speak relatively regularly. They were very much in touch over the holidays.”

The brothers are said to have sent presents to one another as Katie added: “There were phone and video calls over the Christmas and New Year holiday and the Sussexes sent presents to the Cambridges and vice versa.

“It was an opportunity in an otherwise very busy and chaotic year for both of the families to come together and connect, albeit virtually.”

The royal expert claimed Prince William, who reached out to Prince Harry after it was revealed Meghan had suffered a miscarriage, was “barely on talking terms” with Harry after he stepped down from royal life.

She said: “Things are a lot better between William and Harry. If you go back a year at that stage, these brothers were barely on talking term

“When William went to the Sandringham Summit, he was so angry with his brother. He couldn't even face going to that lunch with the Queen. He only went for the meetings, such was his frustration and feeling of disappointment about what his brother had done and how Harry was handling the situation.”

Katie continued to explain there are still difficulties when it comes to their relationship.

She said: “But there is an ocean between them, there is a time difference and as Harry [has] said… they are two brothers on different paths.”

Meanwhile, the royal expert said the Duke of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex’s relationship is “much better” but it’s questionable if the pair “will ever be as close” as they were before.

Shortly before stepping down from his role as a senior working royal, Harry said the brothers were on “different paths”.

During a TV interview, Prince Harry refused to deny a rift between himself and William as he said: “Part of this role, part of this job and this family being under the pressure it is under, inevitably stuff happens.

“But look, we are brothers, we will always be brothers. We are certainly on different paths at the moment but I will always be there for him and, as I know, he will always be there for me.”

He added: “We don’t see each other as much as we used to because we are so busy but I love him dearly and the majority of stuff is created out of nothing. As brothers, you have good days, you have bad days.”
