Rising country star Parker McCollum has earned his first No. 1 on Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart with his major-label debut “Pretty Heart.”
“Pretty Heart” climbed 5-1 on the chart dated December 26, seeing a 13 percent increase to 29.4 million audience impressions in the tracking week ended December 20, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
“We did it y’all! Just a kid from Conroe, TX who dreamed about playing country music now has the #1 song in the country this week!” McCollum wrote on Twitter in response to the news.
He added, “No beer songs or dirt roads or trucks or nothin. Just honest songwriting. We did it our way! Best fans in the world made it happen! THANK YOU!”
Billboard noted “Pretty Heart” reached No. 1 in its 50th week on the Country Airplay chart, reflecting a record-long trek to the top for a freshman single.
McCollum has also climbed to No. 1 on Billboard‘s all-genre Emerging Artists chart, which ranks the most popular developing artists of the week.
