Molly-Mae Hague slammed for referring to a £2,000 Gucci coat as ‘chav chic’ and is labelled ‘classist’

Molly-Mae Hague has come under fire from fans after calling a £2,000 Gucci coat "chav chic".

The influencer, who recently gave a full tour of her incredible walk in wardrobe, took to her Instagram stories to show off her new Gucci x The North Face coat.

As well as her modelling the item, she wrote: "Chav Chic and I'm here for it."

However, plenty of people took offence to her use of the word 'chav' and took to Twitter to share their views on the 21 year old's comments.

One furious person said: "molly mae calling her gucci tnf jacket "chav chic" really does back my dissertation.

"saying stuff like that with the potential of 'influencing' her 5 mill followers to use classist terms like that really does not sit well with me."

Another Twitter user expressed: "naaa not molly mae calling her new north face gucci coat 'chav chic'. Say ur blindly priviliged n go." [sic]

A third wrote: "Not Molly Mae calling a Gucci x North Face puffer "chav chic".

However, many fans also rushed to the reality star's defence and argued that she gets too much stick.

A loyal follower commented: "Molly Mae can't breathe without everyone grabbing their pitch forks, leave the lass alone man."

A second added: "I can't believe I'm seeing someone say that molly mae is "dehumanising" people because she called a coat "chav chic". The girl actually doesn't catch a break."

This isn't the only thing the Love Island star has been slammed for recently, after she and boyfriend Tommy Fury were criticised for not wearing masks while flying to the Maldives.

In one of her recent YouTube vlog's, the couple, who had a very romantic date night with rose petals and candles, hooked their facemasks underneath their chins, leaving their faces unprotected.

Someone wrote: "Love ya'll but please wear your masks above your nose during flights and interacting with others!!!!"

"Please just keep it up the whole time when with other people and outside with the workers, and especially with the new more contagious strain of covid," another person argued.
