Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shared an inspirational quote from the Dalai Lama on Tuesday — despite the fact that he was reportedly not allowed to speak at their wedding.
“I believe that at every level of society — familial, tribal, national and international — the key to a happier and most successful world is the growth of compassion,” the quote read.
The post, which was shared to the Sussex Royal Instagram page, was complete with the caption, “quote for the week ahead,” as the couple and their newborn son Archie prepare for their royal tour of South Africa next week.
The pair are said to have wanted the religious leader to deliver a sermon at their high-profile wedding in May 2018. However, according to the Daily Mail, the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby — who married them — ruled out the Buddhist leader because he isn’t a Christian.
The Sussexes eventually chose American bishop Michael Curry, who gave an infamously fiery speech in front of celebs including Serena Williams and George and Amal Clooney.
