Love Island star Curtis Pritchard opens up on how crash diets impacted his ‘mental state’ as he reveals he’s lost an impressive 21 pounds

Love Island star Curtis Pritchard has been wowing fans lately with his impressive weight loss.

The 24 year old brother of AJ Pritchard, who recently reconnected with ex Amy Hart, puts his body transformation down to Weight Watchers, which he joined around one year ago.

And after recent holiday snaps which had Curtis’ 1.4 million Instagram followers gushing over him, we decided to ask the dancing pro just how he’s got into shape.

“I’m feeling really, really body confident,” Curtis told OK! Online , before saying crash course diets are not for him.

He also admitted to us that he’s lost a whopping 21 pounds as a result of his fitness and lifestyle choices.

Curtis explained: “Throughout my life I’ve always done these ups and downs and crash course diets and your mental state is what gets affected. If you get so, so hungry you can’t focus and if you can’t function properly then you just feel down and dull and a little bit horrible.”

“After Love Island I was getting fat-shamed and I did put a lot of weight on,” Curtis told us, continuing: “Actually upstairs in my room I’ve got all of the swimming shorts I wore in Love Island.

“I was going to take them on this holiday but I went to try them on and, put it like this, if I wore them they would’ve come straight off in the water. I’d be walking around with nothing on. So I had to get a whole new wardrobe for holiday which was incredible.”

How has Curtis lost the weight?

Curtis puts his body transformation and weight loss down to running, eating properly and Weight Watchers.

The star revealed he turned to Weight Watchers as he can stay fit and eat what he wants.

“On WW you can eat everything, whatever you want. I can vary my eating in different ways. If I know I’m going to have my eggs in the morning then I can have some carbs and bread at lunchtime.

“I used to do crash course diets then have a cheat day which then turned into a cheat two weeks. Now, I don’t have to have a cheat day because I know nothing is off the menu. So if I want to have a dessert, I can have a dessert. If I want yoghurt I can have that, or a chocolate bar. There aren’t any cheat days.

“It normalises food. It doesn’t give you this bad relationship with food, and it allows food to be your friend and then you can be in control of that which is the best thing.”

The star has had his fair share of negative comments on Instagram but insists he doesn’t let it affect him anymore.

“I get so much positive feedback on Instagram. Obviously you always get the negative things but I just ignore all of that stuff you know,” Curtis said.

“There’s no point in reading it or letting it bother you so I always look at the positive, and the amount of love and support I’m getting is just incredible. Everyone has been commenting on the weight loss.”

As a result of his weight loss, Curtis has now become a proud Gold member of Weight Watchers after his latest weigh in.
