Lady Gaga and her father apparently have opposing views about the US election as he has backed President Donald Trump despite her endorsement of Joe Biden.
The pop star’s dad Joe Germanotta voiced his support for Trump on Twitter just hours after the divisive president issued a scathing diss towards her.
In a single tweet, Joe simply wrote: ‘@realDonaldTrump 2020.’
He then added: ‘You may have noticed my political and spiritual beliefs are different. liberty and freedom of choice would not be political.’
Trump took aim at Gaga after it was confirmed she would support Biden at his final campaign rally in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Monday night.
A press release shared by the president’s communication director Tim Murtagh said: ‘Nothing exposes Joe Biden’s disdain for the forgotten working men and women of Pennsylvania like campaigning with anti-fracking activist Lady Gaga.
‘Joe Biden will always prioritise the desires of the liberal Hollywood elite and the radical left, while President Trump will always put the interests of blue-collar workers first.’
At an event in Avoca, Pennsylvania, Trump later said: ‘He’s got Lady Gaga, Lady Gaga, I could tell you plenty of stories. I could tell you stories about Lady Gaga, I know a lot of stories.’
Gaga, 34, did go on to perform at the rally alongside John Legend and Common.
During her set, the pop star recalled her romance with ex-fiance Taylor Kinney who hails from Pennsylvania.
Before launching into her ballad You & I, Gaga told the crowds: ‘I was engaged to a man from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I know, I know, it didn’t work out.’
She then admitted: ‘I loved him so much but it just did not work out but I still love me a Pennsylvania guy. I love Joe, so Joe’s my new Pennsylvania guy.’
Appealing for Biden votes, Gaga also said: ‘Like me, you’ve experienced the last four years, and have all the evidence you need to look at this choice, and know in your heart, without any doubt, that Joe Biden is the right choice.
‘Vote like your life depends on, or vote like your children’s lives depend on it, because they do.’
She added that the American public should vote for Biden because ‘he’s a good person’.
