Kate Winslet stops ‘Avatar’ junket, tells child reporter their interview will be ‘amazing’
Forget the Oscars — the 2023 award for Best Actress in an Interview goes to Kate Winslet. The “Titanic” star’s name started trending on Twitter this week thanks to a particularly adorable video of Kate’s interaction with a nervous young reporter named Martha who was set to interview Kate about “Avatar: The Way of the Water” for the German kids’ TV program, “Logo!” Wearing a T-shirt that reads “Kinderreporterin,” or “child reporter,” Martha admits to Kate that she’s a bundle of nerves. “Um, it’s my first time,” Martha says quietly in the clip. The Oscar winner and mother of three leans in towards Martha. “This is your first time doing it?Ok, well guess what? When we do this interview, it’s going to be the most amazing interview ever,” Kate assures her. “And do you know why? Because we’ve decided that it’s going to be. So, we’ve decided right now, me and you, that this is going to be a really fantastic interview.” As Martha giggles, Kate tells her: “You can ask me anything that you want, and you don’t have to be scared. Everything is going to be amazing. Ok? You’ve got this. Ok, let’s do it!” Kate’s pep talk apparently did the trick and Martha nailed the rest of the interview looking confident and calm. An entertainment reporter spotted the sweet exchange and shared the clip on Twitter on Monday (Jan. 9), calling it “the most precious thing” they’d ever seen. Plenty of other users agreed, as evidenced by the 1 million-plus views the clip notched in just 24 hours.
“I used to shoot junkets,” one person wrote in the comments. “Hours and hours, one reporter after the next; same questions and answers. It’s tough on everyone. So, to see Kate lean-in for a sincere heart-to-heart with this junior journalist after probably 20 reporters have already been through, it’s inspiring.“
Tweeted another: “A mere 30 seconds to comfort and reassure someone and to set an awesome example of kindness for the rest of the world.”

Hugh Jackman denies taking steroids for ‘Wolverine’
Hugh Jackman says he got his famously ripped “Wolverine” physique “the old school way,” through good, old-fashioned sweat — not chemicals. In a new interview for HBO’s “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace,” Hugh, 54, was asked if he ever used steroids to bulk up. “No, I love my job. And I love Wolverine,” said the star, who’s set to reprise his superhero role in Marvel’s upcoming “Deadpool 3.” “I got to be careful what I say here, but I had been told anecdotally what the side effects are of that. And I was like, ‘I don’t love it that much.’ So no, I just did it the old school way,” he continued, according to Variety. “And I tell you, I’ve eaten more chickens …,” he joked. “I’m so sorry to all the vegans and vegetarians and to the chickens of the world. Literally the karma is not good for me. If the deity has anything related to chickens, I’m in trouble.”

Hilary Swank reveals how she hid her pregnancy on ‘Alaska Daily’
Hilary Swank relied on her acting skills — and a little white lie — to keep her pregnancy under wraps on the set of her new show, “Alaska Daily.” During a chat with James Corden on “The Late Late Show” on Monday (Jan. 9), the star, 48, recalled worrying about how she’d hide the twin buns in her proverbial oven through her first trimester of pregnancy. “I was like, ‘Oh my God. I’m pregnant. I can’t tell anybody,'” Hilary said, according to Page Six. Making matters worse, her character, journalist Eileen Fitzgerald, is a jogger, and as Hilary told James, filming “one to two minutes onscreen” of the running scenes “takes two hours,” with camera operators wanting to capture the motion from lots of different angles.
To keep her belly from being spotted, Hilary decided to tell her team she’s a “really bad runner” in the hopes they’d opt for a stunt double. Asked to display her lack of running prowess, the “Million Dollar Baby” star recalled, “I ran and these four men all looked at each other and went, ‘Yeah, you need a stunt double.’ They were like, ‘Why are you running so flatfooted? You’re, like, bent over.'” It wasn’t until October 2022 that the Oscar winner confirmed she is, in fact, expecting twins with her husband, Philip Schneider, in April.

Chris Harrison says he lost 20 pounds after ‘Bachelor’ racism controversy
Chris Harrison — whose 19-year-long Bachelor Nation hosting tenure on ended in 2021 after he defended a contestant’s past racist behavior — is opening up about how the scandal around his exit affected him personally. “I was heartbroken. I was gutted. I was embarrassed. I was mad at myself,” Chris says on his new podcast, “The Most Dramatic Podcast Ever”(via People). “I was disappointed in myself. The last thing in the world I ever wanted to do was be an agent of anything negative — whether it had to do with race or anything.” Looking back on what happened after he seemingly shrugged off Rachael Kirkconnell’s racist past in an interview with Rachel Lindsay last year, Chris said he became ill and lost a large amount of weight. “Things spun out of control for a number of reasons and I was sick, sick to my stomach. I lost 20 pounds. I didn’t sleep. I didn’t eat. I was scared to death… It was just one gut-punch after the other, and mentally and physically I deteriorated pretty bad,” he explained.
As for his remarks in the interview, Chris said, “I didn’t express myself like I normally do. I think that part we all agree on. But as far as my standing in the community and the show, it really didn’t register on the Richter scale. There was much more egregious things going on in the world and things that had happened.” Despite all of that, he added that his “apology was warranted because I did misstep and I made a mistake.”

A second insider adds that the “funny and charismatic” star has “been making everyone laugh on set” throughout the shoot.
