Chris Evans, 54, was pleasantly taken aback when he found out that his Virgin Radio co-stars had spoilt him rotten for his birthday this year. The radio DJ will be turning 55 on 1 April, and was surprised when Vassos Alexander, 46, revealed he had bought him a pair of walking boots he wanted, but noted his wife Natasha was going to be “annoyed” at the fact someone beat her to it.
She’s going to be so annoyed at this conversation
During a conversation on-air, Chris was discussing how he had asked Tash for the boots as he had decided he wasn’t going to treat himself to a new pair.
“There’s a pair of walking boots,” he told his team, “I’m not buying myself anything this year!”
Vassos suddenly interrupted, saying sheepishly: “Tell her not to get you those.”
Chris was confused at first until his colleague’s giggles gave it away.
“No reason,” Vassos blushed as he tried to stifle his laughter.
The radio host beamed: “Really! You know there’s a vegan pair,” he hinted, trying to gather more information about his assumed gift.
Vassos replied: “There is a vegan pair but I didn’t get you those.
“Did you want the vegan pair?”
Chris shook his head, admitting Tash was going to be frustrated that she now has to think of something else to get him.
“She’s going to be so annoyed at this conversation!” he hooted, hoping his beloved wasn’t listening to the show.
Turning is attention back to his friend, he said: “Thanks, they’re not cheap!”
But the kind sentiments quickly took a jokey turn as he cheekily added: “Do you know someone at the shop?”

Elsewhere, Chris weighed in on Piers Morgan’s shock departure from Good Morning Britain last week, admitting that while he doesn’t agree with his brash broadcasting style, he thinks he’s “interesting” and insisted the ITV news show won’t be the same without him.
The 55-year-old outspoken presenter quit following a clash with weather forecaster Alex Beresford, over his comments about Meghan Markle.
He received 41,000 Ofcom complaints for his remarks about the Duchess of Sussex following her interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Piers said he “didn’t believe a word” Meghan said as she discussed her life in the Royal Family, alongside her husband Prince Harry.
Speaking on his show, Chris said: “Piers for me, the way his broadcasting was always going to run out of road on GMB and it was just a question of time.
“I think he had to sign a new contact and I think that happened before he presumed it might.
“He’s got himself in the mix with this story – he’s on the front page!”
He added: “I don’t agree with the way Piers broadcasts a lot of the time, but I just think it’s an interesting story.”
Chris went on to say that Piers is “very welcome” to come onto his show to discuss his departure and his plans for the future, having previously hinted to ITV star that the airwaves may be calling him…
The Chris Evans Breakfast Show airs weekdays at 6am on Virgin Radio.
