Captain & Tennille’s Daryl Dragon Has Passed Away

Captain & Tennille‘s keyboard-playing “Captain” Daryl Dragon has passed away at the age of 76.

Dragon died at a hospice in Prescott, Arizona on Wednesday, January 2, due to renal failure.

“He was a brilliant musician with many friends who loved him greatly. I was at my most creative in my life, when I was with him,” Toni Tennille, Dragon’s longtime partner and ex-wife said according to Billboard. She was with him when he died.

Captain & Tennille’s best-known songs included “Muskrat Love,” “Do That to Me One More Time” and “Love Will Keep Us Together.”

Dragon had met his future wife and partner Tennille in 1971, when she hired him to play piano for a musical called Mother Earth. They married in 1975, a year after they signed a deal with A&M Records. The couple separated in 2013 and finalized their divorce in 2014. However, they remained close friends.

Dragon is survived by his older brother Doug and two nieces, Kelly Arbout and Renee Henn.
