Ariana Grande Seems Genuinely Traumatized by Having to Perform on the ‘Sweetener Tour’

Some very concerning statements have been coming from Ariana Grande relating to touring and her current emotional state. In a partially deleted exchange between herself and fans on Twitter, Ariana Grande confessed that she is already starting to feel that she doesn’t “have anything” left to give fans on her  current Sweetener Tour.

After a fan on Twitter wondered why Ariana was not spending as much time as she used to on social media, the “Breathin” singer actually responded directly to the question.

“I just feel empty and i wanna have more to say / better energy to give to u,” Ariana wrote on Twitter, “and rn i don’t have anything. love u.”

Ariana continued to comment on how she has been feeling  in other tweets that appear to have since been deleted. In one exchange, another fan tried to tweet some encouraging words to Ariana, writing “Music is your therapy and I love seeing it heal you.”

The singer then responded to that seemingly innocuous statement in a since-deleted tweet that made a much more specific and telling clarification: “Making it is healing. Performing it is like reliving it all over again and it is hell.”

And when one fan specifically asked if touring was good for her, Ariana shocked many of her fans when she replied: “I don’t think it is.” She added: “Honestly, it’s been v hard. I have sm on my mind and it’s so heavy and no energy to process or work thru any of it but i’m trying hard.”

Just a week ago, Ariana shared what she claimed were “terrifying” brain scan images on her Instagram account to bring awareness to PTSD, or post-traumatic stress disorder. The images contrasted scans of a healthy brain, a brain with PTSD, and her brain. Ariana’s brain scan looked like a severe case of the scan of the brain with PTSD.

Ariana has admitted that she has struggled with anxiety and PTSD since the terrible events of the Manchester Arena Bombing at one of her concerts in 2017. She was dealt another psychological blow last year when her “best friend” and ex Mac Miller was found dead due to an overdose; many reports have suggested that she broke up with her then-fiance Pete Davidson over the feelings she felt at Mac’s passing.

Many of the songs that make up the set list for Ariana’s Sweetener Tour are believed to have been inspired by either her experiences following the Manchester Arena tragedy or following the loss of Mac and subsequent break up with Pete. So it is not surprising that Ariana might feel a great deal of stress “reliving” those memories night after night.

Of course, it may be that Ariana’s comments just came out of an emotionally low point on a bad day. Still, the fact that Ariana posted these kinds of thoughts at all have to force many of her fans to ask two questions.

First, can Ariana really make it through to the end of her sold-out tour given how “empty” she feels already? And, second, should Ariana be touring at all if it is traumatizing her — and potentially jeopardizing her longer-term mental well being — so much?

Unfortunately, only time will tell what kind of toll touring may have on Ariana and her mental health.
