Google rolls out hotel comparison feature that’s making finding the cheapest deal easier than ever

Integrated into its search function, users can easily locate accommodation options around the city and spot the cheapest place to book with a single glance.

The feature has its own landing page within Google, where users can enter their destination, check in and check out dates as well as the number of guests.

In a layout that's similar to Airbnb's, users can see a map on the right hand side of the page showing prices and locations.

On the left is a list of different hotels on offer – users are shown the cheapest prices available as well as an indication of whether it's a discount on the usual rates.

It also features a short blurb as well as ratings populated from reviews given by Google users.

It's possible to filter the search result based on the guest rating, facilities, price, accommodation type, and hotel class.

On each hotel's landing page, users are given details such as the address, contact number, photos and a location map.

It also details things to do, transport options (including timings) and similar hotels near by.

But perhaps best of all for those looking for a bargain, it shows how much the rooms are listed for on a number of booking sites. You're also given an insight into how much of a discount you're getting and whether it's a good deal.

This means that at a glance, you can see the cheapest place to book the room.

Even if users don't go directly to the landing page, the function comes up as a box out for certain search terms – for example, hotels near Disney World.

Sun Online Travel reported earlier this month that Premier Inn has launched a hotel room that's cheaper than hostels.

Premier Inn's Zip rooms in Cardiff are available for as little as £9.50 per person, but have reduced services.

And we previously revealed how you could find substantially cheaper rooms by waiting until the last minute to book your hotel room.
