Few will be surprised the cross-party talks on Brexit have broken up without any agreement being reached.
Theresa May was forced to turn to Labour because the splits within her own party made getting a deal through Parliament impossible.
So it is a bit rich for the Prime Minister to blame the collapse of the negotiations on divisions within the Labour Party.
The reason Brexit has unravelled is because of the multiple mistakes by Mrs May, who failed to persuade her own party to back her botched and unloved withdrawal agreement.
Jeremy Corbyn entered the talks in good faith. He was unable to make progress because of the Conservatives’ unwillingness to compromise and Mrs May’s looming departure.
Labour was seeking important guarantees to protect workers’ and environmental rights.
As these could be ripped up within seconds of the new Tory leader taking office, any agreement struck with Mrs May was valueless.
This was a crisis imposed on the country by the Tories. The blame for the failure to deliver Brexit rests solely with them.
Shooting an endangered animal with a high-powered rifle is not sport.
Such barbaric acts are the height of cowardice by people with large bank balances, but no understanding of conservation.
As we report today, hundreds of hippos continue to be slaughtered each year by trophy hunters. Wildlife experts say the species is already at risk because of poaching.
Their chance of survival is even less likely as long as the market in trophy hunting is allowed to continue. It is time to ban those who make money out of animal cruelty.

We hope it is just the costumes which are outrageous this year, and not the way the scoring has become so politically biased.
