Sarah Ferguson: Will the Duchess of York remarry Prince Andrew?

It’s been over 20 years since Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew divorced, but despite the fact she’s no longer an official member of the Royal Family, the Duchess of York remains close to The Firm, and her ex husband. Just last month, the pair attended Royal Ascot 2019 together. Wearing a bold yellow outfit, which she teamed with a feathered hat, Sarah certainly looked the part as she joined her ex husband – who opted for a morning suit. They were pictured chatting and joking with other Ascot guests as the Queen’s carriage procession entered the venue. In May, they were also spotted out together as they attended the wedding of Lady Gabriella Windsor and Thomas Kingston. And Sarah recently gushed over her ex and two children, as she shared a series of pictures of them and their children – Princess Beatrice, 30, and Princess Eugenie, 29.

Sarah Ferguson: Will the Duchess of York remarry Prince Andrew?

As she celebrated the New Year, she posted some old family photos, with the caption: “Happy happy times this holiday season and big New Year celebrations .. thank you for such a year of goodness to my family.”

The couple’s closeness has sparked rumours that they’ll get back together, with fans waiting for the exes to make an official announcement.

So will Fergie remarry Prince Andrew?

A royal source recently revealed that Fergie and Andrew had been in talks about a possible reunion.

Speaking to renowned American journalist Edward Klein in 2011, an unnamed friend of the Duke and Duchess said: “You have to understand that Andrew still loves Sarah. I was with Andrew and Sarah one day when they discussed getting remarried.

“She thought her career would continue to support her expensive lifestyle, and she didn’t want to give all that up to become a boring royal again.

“Then, after Sarah’s American career collapsed, it was Andrew who didn’t want to remarry her.

“He told me, ‘Given Sarah’s weaknesses, she wouldn’t make an appropriate royal anymore.’

“Also, for the sake of his daughters, Andrew didn’t want to cause a commotion at Buckingham Palace.”

It comes after Fergie gushed about their close relationship. Speaking in an interview last year, Sarah said they had ‘never left each other’ despite their 1996 divorce.

“I always think, ‘have we really?’” she explained to an Australian radio station last year.

“We’re divorced to each other right now. We’ve never really left each other,” she added.

As she reminisced about their wedding day, she gushed: “The thing is that it was the greatest day of my life marrying the finest man, and he is the finest man in my life. He is a great gentleman and he’s got an essence of gold. He is a nugget of goodness. In 1986 on 23 July I completely threw myself into the most incredible love affair for life.

Despite their split, Fergie continues to compliment her ex. Last year, she gushed over Prince Andrew revealing how ‘proud’ she was of the 59-year-old as he performed an important role at last year’s Trooping The Colour.

And in an interview earlier this year, Sarah didn’t rule out the possibility of remarriage, sparking further speculation that they’d reunite.

When asked if they’d tie the knot again, she said: “So many people have asked me that, but we’re so happy with the way we are right now.

She added to the Daily Mail: “We enjoy each other’s company; we allow each other to blossom. I know it sounds like a fairy tale but that’s the way we are.”

Fans are now convinced that they’ll walk down the aisle again, with one writing on Twitter: “I have be waiting for that announcement for years.”

Andrew and Sarah got married in 1986 at Westminster Abbey. They spent six years as a happily married couple before announcing their separation in 1992. Their divorce was eventually finalised in 1996, with the couple stating it was an ‘amicable split.”
