Carly Cox revealed how she was left in stitches when her daughter took a bite out of a tampon which she thought was a Twix.
The mum had half unpacked her food shopping when she went upstairs to feed her baby while five-year-old Evie remained in the kitchen.
Little Evie began eyeing up the shopping and asked her mum if she could have “one of those sweets in the orange wrapper”.
But as she took a bite she realised it wasn’t what she thought it was and said: “Mum, it doesn’t taste like chocolate.”
Carly, from Cambridge, went downstairs and was in hysterics when she found the child chomping down one of her sanitary products.

She has since shared the amusing tale with other parents on The Motherload Facebook group.
The mum shared a snap of the half-chewed tampons as evidence and explained how she assumed her daughter was referring to a Twix bar.
Recalling the conversation, Carly said Evie asked her: “Mum, how do I eat it?”
To which she replied: “Like you do any chocolate, open it and bite it.”
Then Evie responded: “Mum, it doesn’t taste like chocolate.”
Parents on the Facebook group were left “howling” at the incident, with one mum saying it had “made her night”.

Another added: “Mine [children] thought they were sweets when they were younger.”
A third revealed: “Went upstairs when my lot were little to find sanitary pads all over the windows… They told me they were playing with airplanes.”
Speaking about the situation, Carly told Metro: “I come down the stairs and she’s sat there [at the] table holding a chewed tampon with a face of disgust that it wasn’t actually chocolate.
“She asked me what it was, so I explained that mummy uses them sometimes. She has a brief understanding on periods anyway so she was quite happy with just knowing that.”
Carly said she wished she had taken a photo of her daughter’s disgusted face.
The mum concluded: “I don’t think she’ll ever fancy eating one again and she has now learnt the difference between a Twix and a tampon."
