Bargain lovers have gone wild for a £5 Primark foundation, claiming it’s ‘identical’ to cult favourite Estée Lauder’s Double Wear coverage.
Both boasting matte long lasting finish, medium coverage and an SPF factor, the comparison was made by user Lou Walwyn on Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains.
She wrote: ‘For those ladies that wear Estée Lauder double wear foundation for £32. This is the same coverage for only £5 from Primark! I’m converted.’
Members of the group – which was set up by money saver Holly Smith – were quick to agree with the assessment, with the post receiving more than 800 likes and nearly 700 comments.

One wrote: ‘I like it and mix it with another shade of theirs . Perfect for work, not wanting to use my expensive brands for casual wear.’
Another said: ‘It’s incredible. I had a double wear sample and this, I tried both and preferred Primark, but neither are good for dry skin.’
Elsewhere one individual added: ‘I’m converted too I love it but it does go shiny after a while but it’s still fab.’
‘It’s honestly identical!’ another insisted, as one social media user said: ‘It really is the same, I’ve tried it.’

Yet there were some who argued the products weren’t at all similar, writing: ‘I bought it after seeing the hype on YouTube. Found it oily, sheer and the shade range is horrible.
‘It literally slid off my face and I have dry skin.’
Another unimpressed reviewer said: ‘Definitely not a dupe for double wear, it was horrendous on my skin.’
On its website Primark describes their Double Coverage Matte Foundation as ‘rivaling some of the high-end and higher price-tag products on the market’.
However while Estée Lauder offers the foundation – costing £33.50 on their website – in a staggering 50 shades, Primark are currently only offering five.
