What is PRP treatment, how much does it cost, is the 'vampire facial' safe and which celebrities have had it done?

But what is the PRP treatment, how much does it cost, and who else is a fan?

What is a vampire facial?

A vampire facial is the coined term for the PRP facial treatment.

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma, which is detracted from the patient's blood.

This is then applied to the face following a microneedling treatment, and rubbed into the skin.

The treatment will only take around 20 minutes from start to finish and its purpose is to rejuvenate skin.

The PRP works by boosting the skin's cell turnover, giving you better, plumper skin.

It also makes for a pretty cool Instagram post.

Does it hurt?

Feedback on the pain of the procedure is mixed reviews.

Even though numbing cream is used, some say it's worse than getting a tattoo, and others have claimed they can barely feel it.

The procedure does have little to no downtime, however, a sore face for a few days is pretty much guaranteed.

Beauty is pain and all that.

How much does it cost?

In the UK the cost of the procedure can vary a lot depending on the clinic you attend.

On average, it will set you back around £1,000.

Which celebrities have had it done?

Kim Kardashian is known for being a huge fan of the procedure.

Model Bar Rafaeli is also a lover of the vampire facial, and so is Rupert Everett the actor.

Keira Maguire has also had it done.
