Hozier announces ‘Wasteland Baby’ tour, 1 Canadian date

In wake of an already massive world tour, Hozier (or Andrew Hozier-Byrne) has already revealed plans for a second leg of North American shows.

On Monday afternoon, the world-renowned Irish singer-songwriter announced an additional 10 shows on the highly-anticipated Wasteland, Baby! tour.

The large string of American concerts will include one stop at Vancouver’s Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre on Oct. 18.

Hozier, 28, will promote his sophomore album, Wasteland, Baby! during his extensive trek across the globe.

The long-awaited album served as the follow-up to Hozier’s 2014 self-titled debut. It was released on March 1 via the Rubyworks/Columbia labels.

Wasteland, Baby! topped the Billboard 200 in its second week and is a first for the Take Me to Church singer.

It is the first rock album to claim that title in nearly six months. Paul McCartney’s Egypt Station (2018), last held that spot for one week.

As reported by Billboard, Wasteland, Baby! sold around 89,000 units within the U.S. in its first week — 75,000 of those were reportedly in physical sales.

Many of those sales coincided with ticket sales for Hozier’s North American tour. Those who bought a ticket were eligible to redeem either a physical or digital copy of the album.

The Wasteland, Baby! tour commenced in Buffalo, N.Y., on March 10.

Upon hearing the news, an outpour of fans hopped on Twitter to share their excitement.

Although Hozier finished a short Canadian tour later last year, many of his fans were stricken with sadness after learning he’d only be visiting Vancouver.

Following the conclusion of the Wasteland, Baby! tour, Hozier will perform a five-date residency at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City: Nov. 21, 22, 23, 25 and 26.

Wasteland, Baby! is now available on all major streaming platforms. The album can also be ordered through the official Hozier website.

Tickets for the upcoming North American tour dates go on sale this Friday (March 15), at 10 a.m. ET. They can be purchased here.
