On a day that Facebook and Instagram ground to a halt, it seems that Strictly professional dancer Neil Jones thought he would have a bit of fun on Twitter .
The 36-year-old has spent some of the social media downtime by stoking up the pressure on Joe Sugg to pop the question to his fellow Strictly dancer, Dianne Buswell.
Joe and Dianne became the darlings of the 2018 series, going all the way to the final before losing out to Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton for the Glitterball Trophy.
After the final show, they confirmed their romance and have been the epitome of love ever since, but Neil has got a little mischievous and looked to push the coupling to the next level.
Announcing ‘plans of an engagement’, Neil tweeted: "It’s hard to understand but something about having a big surprise for @dbuzz6589 but first he needs to speak to her dad and he said something about bells."
Of course, this was enough to send Strictly loyalists into a tizz, as they started to believe that Joe was about to ask the ultimate question.
Playful Neil then followed up with another tweet, in which he insinuated that Joe will be down on one knee, sooner rather than later.
Neil wrote: "I think @Joe_Sugg might be buying some knee pads as he keeps talking about getting on one knee"
While there may be a hope that this ‘news’ is true, Neil’s followers were soon seeing through his ruse and started chastising the dancer for being a "wind-up merchant".
One Strictly fan replied: "NEIL you really know how to wind us up don’t ya"
While another called him out, tweeting: "and the award for biggest wind up merchant goes tooo"
Another fan saw the funny side, replying: "Omg. Neil!! You are such a prankster!! Hahaha!"
Of course, the joke could be on him if Joe and Dianne later announce that wedding bells will be ringing and that he has managed to get down on that knee after all.
Over to you now Joe.
