Dolly Parton is mourning the death of her brother and long-time song writing partner Floyd Parton.
Floyd Parton died at the age of 61 in Sevierville. The cause of his death is unknown, but Radar Online reported that Floyd had been suffering from a mystery illness.
An obituary describes him as “a man of many talents and areas of knowledge … an avid outdoorsman and had an abundant knowledge of nature as well as being an incredible cook.”
Dolly Porton’s 1991 hit duet with Ricky Van Shelton, “Rockin’ Years,” was written by Floyd Parton.
On the day of Floyd’s death, his sister Stella posted an intimate photo of the siblings together on Twitter with the caption, “And Jesus said to him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. Have a beautiful day on this bright and brisk Thursday. I am spending the day with my beautiful brother Floyd.”
